Seedium is a web & mobile app development company that has proven to be a reliable tech partner for businesses worldwide. Since 2017, our team has been successfully building and scaling software solutions, helping startups, SMBs, and enterprises address their unique challenges through custom-built technology.

But all great journeys begin with a small step. Here, we reflect on Seedium’s story of going from a small rented room in Kyiv to a global tech partner.
2016-2017: The Origins
Seedium was founded in late 2016 and officially registered on March 30, 2017, by Mykhailo Kopyl, a tech entrepreneur who went through the ups and downs of launching a digital product himself.
In 2013, Mykhailo worked on his first startup, an educational web platform. It was a challenging but eye-opening experience that taught him how to build a tech team, manage product development, and navigate the process of turning an idea into reality.

Soon after, Mykhailo brought in two more specialists who formed the company’s initial core team and played a major role in its early growth. Volodymyr Stepanchenko led UX/UI design and business analysis, while Kostya Zgara took charge of the technical direction and currently holds the position of CTO at Seedium.

First Projects
With a team of three working out of a small rented room in Kyiv, Seedium began taking on its first projects through Upwork, often collaborating with other software development agencies that needed external contractors. During this time, the team gained valuable experience and built its initial portfolio, often working on projects that brought little or no profit.
That was an idealistic time of full enthusiasm and strong dedication. We treated every project as our own, consistently going above and beyond what was expected. Those values and commitment have remained at the core of Seedium to this day.

By the end of 2017, the team was already selecting which companies to work with. We shifted our focus to building larger custom products from scratch, prioritizing projects we found both interesting and meaningful. This formed one of Seedium’s core principles, which still guides the company today: to support businesses striving to make the world a better place through their products.
Where Did the Seedium Name Come From?
From the start, our focus was on helping seed-stage startups bring their ideas to life through well-built web & mobile products. That’s where our name comes from, with “seed” at its core, reflecting growth and potential.
Our mission from day one was to help tech founders avoid common pitfalls and get to market faster. And we’ve stayed true to that with strong results.
80% of the startups we've worked with have successfully launched and begun generating revenue
This is a remarkable achievement in an industry where roughly 90% of startups fail.
2018-2020: Growing Expertise and Expanding Portfolio
As the number of projects grew, Seedium began actively expanding its team. It was during this time that long-standing team members, including Vadym Tarasenko and Ihor Balan, became part of the company.
The team worked fully on-site from a new office on Khreshchatyk in Kyiv, fostering close collaboration and strong working relationships. By that time, Seedium had grown to about 20 specialists, all actively contributing to new projects.

The client base also expanded. Along with early-stage startups, we collaborated with scale-ups that required more advanced development. During this period, Seedium started working with clients like SmarterContact, HerHeadquarters, SportStars, and other promising companies.
2020-2022: Successfully Navigating Covid-19 Challenges
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to reassess our processes and adopt a remote-first workflow. As the team’s productivity remained strong, it encouraged the company to expand its hiring reach. As a result, Seedium was able to bring in highly qualified specialists from both Ukraine and other countries.
In 2020, we also started developing in-house Data Science expertise to meet market expectations and provide our clients with innovative solutions. During this time, Mykola Stepanchenko joined the team to lead efforts in this area.
Within this timeframe, we had the opportunity to welcome several innovative companies to our client list, including StreamTalent, GoInteractive, and Picflow.
2022-Now: Effective Workflow Management In Wartime
2022 was marked by a new challenge that Seedium had to overcome. Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 forced our team to adjust workflows. Since most of our specialists were based in Ukraine, we had to quickly adapt to ensure everyone’s safety and maintain our operations.
From the very first days, we reassigned projects to team members who were already abroad and didn’t require relocation. This allowed us to keep the delivery smooth and uninterrupted. We also developed a Business Continuity Plan to strengthen client confidence in Seedium’s ability to operate during unforeseen events and navigate risks effectively.
Today, our team is distributed across the globe, including Ukraine, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Turkey, and Georgia. The company’s headquarters is located in Tallinn, Estonia. This global presence enables Seedium to respond quickly to any challenges.

We continue to deliver high-quality results for our clients while actively supporting humanitarian efforts and contributing to Ukraine’s fight for freedom. Three Seedium team members joined the ranks of the Ukrainian armed forces, and the company’s hiring policy shifted to prioritize Ukrainians worldwide, providing support in these difficult times.

Establishing New Departments and Extending Presence in Global Markets
With a growing team and deepening expertise, Seedium has significantly expanded the geography and scale of businesses we work with. Coming from the startup environment, we have grown into a company that now serves scale-ups, SMBs, and enterprises across Western Europe and North America.

As the team continued to grow, Seedium recognized the need to build internal structures to support sustainable scaling. This led to the creation of several dedicated departments, including HR, Sales, and Marketing. Together, these departments form the operational backbone that enables effective team scaling and sustained business growth.
Seedium is also actively building in-house AI capabilities to meet evolving market demands and further strengthen our product development expertise. With over 200 completed projects across more than 15 industries in our portfolio, we continue to expand our expertise and take on new challenges across diverse sectors.
Although the team has been operating fully remotely for several years, we foster a culture of strong collaboration, open communication, and shared ownership. Seedium regularly hosts internal knowledge-sharing meetups and quarterly all-hands meetings to keep every team member aligned, regardless of location.
